July 21st

WOW! WOW! WOW! Yesterday, I did something I never thought in a million years I would do. I completed a half Triathlon! .25 mile swim, 10 mile bike, (over the Key Biscayne Bridge – twice) and the 3.1 mile run. I did it in 1 hour and 36 minutes!

So, yes….WOW!

I know I’ve been telling you about how much training I’ve been doing, the assistance from the great Team in Training Coaches, to the vital fuel & liquid love necessary to get the job done, Vitamin Energy….and finally the umph, the support from my team. This is a sport that is about how far you want to take it and to test your limits. Can you break past them?

I sure as hell past my limits! Okay, I’m not going to get ahead of myself, but it’s not all physical. It’s a mental competition as well. From jumping in the water with hundreds of competitors to feeling the rush of forward momentum, the mental meditation and calmness has to override you or else you’ll freak out. I almost went there especially since my time monitor almost came off my ankle during my swim.

Then it’s finishing the swim, running to your bike, tearing off your goggles and swim cap, washing your feet off from sand, throwing on your bike shoes and off you go 10 miles on the road biking. I’ll just say one thing about doing the Key Biscayne Bridge….it’s not your friend.

When your done biking, you switch into your running shoes, down some water and of course my Vitamin Energy and my butt is running 3.1 miles. The course was beautiful, but the pain was unbearable. I had to tell myself to "Think Strong, Be strong".

I completed my course with fellow 93 ROCK mate, Wolfgang. He is also preparing for the D.C. race in September. He cheered me on to complete the most important course in my life. I only spent 1 ½ hours doing this, but imagine those who have cancer who fight everyday just to live? This course is nothing compared to their fight, so I’m proud to use this as a reinforcement in training for my Triathlon in September. I’ll do the training and do my part to help raise awareness so please join the fight by donating below.

Together, we can help save lives…one step at a time.

Til next time,

Natalia
