• February 14 - 93 ROCK, South Florida's Pure Rock Station, flips on at 5pm!

• February 18 - The surviving members of Alice In Chains, Jerry Cantrell, Mike Inez, and Sean Kinney, reunite to perform a benefit concert in Seattle for victims of the tsunami disaster that struck South Asia. The band featured Damageplan vocalist Pat Lachman, with other special guests including Maynard James Keenan of Tool, and Ann Wilson of Heart. This would mark the return of Alice In Chains will William DuVall later becoming the band's new vocalist.
• February 22 - Korn's guitarist, Brian "Head" Welch, leaves the band after converting to Christianity.
• April 3 - Alice In Chains' original bass player, Mike Starr, is arrested for "investigation of property destruction and theft". The good news is that his fall from grace makes him qualified to star with a bunch of other D-List has-beens in next season's "Celebrity Rehab" with Dr. Drew, which kicks off on VH1, January 7th.

• May 3 - Nine Inch Nails releases "With Teeth", it's first studio album in six years. Trent Reznor then found his Yoko, got married and killed the band.
• May 3 - Limp Bizkit releases "The Unquestionable Truth - Part 1", their first album with original guitarist Wes Borland in five years.
• May 6 - Audioslave becomes the first American rock group to perform a free outdoor concert in Cuba. My grandmother did not appreciate this "Awdeosleff" going into Cuba. She was not amused.
• June 18-19 - Green Day films their first ever live CD/DVD, "Bullet In A Bible", at the National Bowl in Milton Keynes, England. They played to over 130,000 fans in two days.

• June 21 - Billy Corgan releases his debut solo album, "TheFutureEmbrace", and announces that he wants to reform the Smashing Pumpkins, which disbanded in 2000. What he did not tell us was that it would be a "Axl Rose/Guns N' Roses" type of a reunion. Billy, Jimmy Chamberlain (for about 5 minutes, before Jimmy got sick of Billy again), and a bunch of guys from the temp agency.
• July 2 - Pink Floyd reunited with former frontman & bassist Roger Waters, who left the band in for the Live 8 London concert. This would be the first time the band played together as a quartet since "The Wall" tour in 1981, and the first public performance by Pink Floyd since 1994. It would be Pink Floyd's final performance.

• November 22 - "Hypnotize" by System Of A Down debuts at number one, making them the third musical act to have two number one albums in the same year. The other album being "Mezmerize".
