When Evanescence first announced that they were heading in a different direction on their new album, I immediately tried to picture Amy Lee doing anything but her brand of music. I pictured her with glowsticks and rave clothing. I then pictured her with a tattoo on her stomach that read "THUG LIFE". How great would that be? Finally, I put a country hat and cowboy boots on Amy Lee, but still kept her in her traditional goth gown for some reason.

Well, I just wanted you to have fun with visuals, minus the acid, because in reality none of that is happening. Amy Lee did say, "A lot of bands I've always been inspired by are just coming into play a little more. There's a lot of stuff that doesn't sound like Evanescence, but the heart of the band of still there. This is a really, really, rhythmically driven record. So there's tons of drum-programming fused with live drums."

Oh so you mean it's different, but the same. Why does this sound familiar?

The band has entered the studio with Grammy Award winning producer Steve Lillywhite to work on their third album. Here is Mr. Steve "I created U2" Lillywhite in all his glory. Last month, Steve had submitted an audition tape to be a judge on American Idol and it leaked. He comes off a tad desperate. Amy Lee continues, "I think our sound is evolving into something that will surprise people, in a very good way. I feel, as always, that growth can be an incredible, limitless thing if you let it. I never want to make the same album twice."

We aren't exactly sure who is in Evanescence, but let's face it, without Ben Moody, it's just the Amy Lee band. I say Tomato, you say Tomato. Wow, that line really doesn't work when you type it out.

Now, if you're wondering if there is still bad blood between Amy Lee and the former bandmates she kicked to the curb, here is an excerpt from a recent Spin Magazine Q & A:

Q: Would it be safe to say that you haven't talked to Ben, John, or Rocky?
A: Oh yeah, that's very safe to say.

Q: What are your thoughts on We Are The Fallen?
A: I don't have any. It doesn't have anything to do with me or Evanescence.

Well, no BFF lucky charms being wore between these ex-bandmates. I'm also guessing the guys didn't send Amy a bouquet of flowers following the recent news of "Bring Me To Life" going platinum. Ouch, that has got to hurt.
