The Challenge
Educate & Celebrate
Both Yuengling and Martin Guitars were celebrating mega-anniversaries and, despite being America’s oldest brewery, most of the public had never heard of Yuengling. Additionally there were a significant number of uninitiated who thought Yuengling was a Chinese Beer.

On a secondary note they indicated that Yuengling –partisans were accustomed to ordering their beer by asking for a “lager” and that bartenders often served whatever was on-tap and not Yuengling.

It was discovered that Martin Guitar was going to produce a very high-end Yuengling 180th Anniversary guitar that could be autographed by both Dick Yuengling and Chris Martin, both direct descendants of the founders of their respective companies and running the show.

A customized summer long interactive on-premise program was created that would be based on driving two primary platforms other than making the Yuengling name familiar to the legal-drinking-age public. #1: Yuengling is America’s Oldest Brewery. #2: Yuengling is Lager’s First Name.
The Idea
Name That Riff
A series of on-premise appearances were conducted where LDA listeners could listen to ten quick guitar riffs from rock idols over headphones. The person who identified the most songs during the event won an engraved Yuengling Apple Ipod.

At each event we let people know the text2win keyword and reinforced, “You won’t remember tomorrow so let’s do it right now”…and gave out the keyword and text number.
The Results
Double Digit Growth In Market!
Yuengling decided to invest in radio support for the 1st time in the South Florida market because of the turn-key and brand specific program that 93 Rock was able to create for the brand. Yuengling was able to secure incremental beer specials, leading to double digit growth in specified accounts.
