Nik: What do you usually do during the offseason?

Chris: I go hunting. It is my favorite thing to do. I hunt in Kansas and Louisiana. Mostly deer hunting and sometimes duck hunting.

Nik: Outside of baseball, what sports do you like to play?

Chris: I play golf.

Nik: Are you any good?

Chris: I got an 11 handicap, so I’m pretty decent. I can play with anyone, but I’m not great.

Nik: Do you have any rituals before games?

Chris: I pray before the National Anthem at every game.

Nik: Growing up, which MLB player did you emulate?

Chris: No doubt, Cal Ripken. He’s the reason I wear the number 8. He’s my favorite player. I grew up in Maryland and he’s a god there. I always try to play as hard as he did.

Nik: What is the best advice you ever received?

Chris: Take nothing for granted.

Nik: Which city has the ugliest fans?

Chris: I would have to say Philadelphia. I have the most fun playing in front of Philadelphia fans, because they’re the worst. They really give you a hard time.

Nik: On a road trip, what is the one thing you cannot leave home without?

Chris: I would have to say my iPhone. I can’t be without it. It does everything. It’s got my music, internet and texting.

Nik: If you could be the President of Major league Baseball for one day what would you change?

Chris: I would say there has to be a Designated Hitter in the game at all times in both leagues.

Nik: What is the worst job you've ever had?

Chris: That's easy. It was the first job I ever had working at a Subway. It was the worst making everybody subs.

Nik: What's the best baseball movie of all time?

Chris: Definitely "For The Love Of the Game" with Kevin Costner. I'm a sucker for some romance and it's got good baseball.
