Nik: Your birthday is December 23rd. When you were growing up, did you get presents for both your birthday and Christmas OR one big present which covered both occasions?

Cody: I got gypped. I only got one gift. It was like, "Here is your birthday present and, by the way, Merry Christmas too". My parents would give it to me on the 24th so it was between my birthday and Christmas.

Nik: You bat right handed, but you throw left handed. Are you ambidextrous?

Cody: I write with my left hand, but I bowl right handed. I guess that would mean that I am ambidextrous. I can do a lot of stuff with both hands.

Nik: When you're not playing baseball what can we find you doing?

Cody: I like to hang out with the family, play with my kid, play poker and golf. I like to do outdoor stuff also.

Nik: What's your favorite cartoon?

Cody: Spongebob Squarepants. That's a good one.

Nik: What is the worst nickname you've ever had?

Cody: They call me Baldie. That's about as bad as it gets.

Nik: What is your pet peeve; something that really ticks you off?

Cody: The biggest pet peeve I have is when we are getting blown out and then somebody on the team who goes 3 for 4 with a homer and a few RBIs starts smiling and having a good ole time. Everyone else is upset, but this one guy is struting around the dugout. That really gets under my skin because it doesn't show you care about the team. You just care about what you've done today.

Nik: Is winning everything?

Cody: Yeah, absolutely. If you are winning everybody is doing their job and everyone is happy.

Nik: Do you have any weird superstitions?

Cody: I'd like to think that I'm not superstitious, but I am. I find myself doing a lot of similar stuff that I did in games before, if I'm doing well. I'll throw a piece of gum in before my at bat and then throw it away as soon as my at bat is over. Weird stuff like that. BUT, I don't wear my jock strap for 2 weeks or wear the same smelly socks.

Nik: With Cameron Maybin and the other new players on the team, are their any pranksters on the team that they need to look out for?

Cody: There are a few. Sergio Mitre is a big prankster and when he does his pranks he gets under the skin of a lot of guys. Luis Gonzalez is a real big prankster, but a great guy also.

Nik: What is the worst gift you have given to a past girlfriend or your wife?

Cody: The worst gift I ever gave was to my girlfriend at the time, my wife now. For months, she was waiting anxiously for me to propose to her. I got her this little gift bag that was holding a balloon. She thought there was a ring in the bag. When she went to go open it, there was just a rock in the bag to hold the balloon down. She thought I was the biggest a-hole ever for doing that. She tells everyone that story all the time.

Nik: Out of all the cities you have played in, who has the ugliest fans?

Cody: Detroit is number one on the list. The women in Cincinnati aren't that great either.
